This video was inspired by Timmy Karter. About three years ago I watched one of his videos and it sparked something - a passion for Latam culture and the authentic side of travel. It's a big part of why I ended up in Mexico in the first place.
Now I'm finally heading to the hidden Caribbean town of mahaual that Timmy's been to, getting to experience it firsthand. Feels like a full circle moment.
and honestly the travel scene on YouTube feels a bit dry right now. tons of fast cut, dopamine highlight, AI slop videos where you never really get to see the real culture underneath it all.
We need those old videos back. of timmy travelling LATAM and talking with locals and showing us his experiences first hand without all the fast cuts to hack peoples dopamine that other travel youtubers are doing lol.
