Genuinely had no idea this place existed until we showed up.
Bacalar is this tiny lagoon town hidden in the south of Mexico and I mean hidden. No big resorts, no party crowds, just this insane lagoon with water so blue it looks fake. Seven different shades of blue in the same lake. I still don't fully understand how that's possible.
We wandered around, got adopted by a random dog, ate some of the best Mexican food we've had on this whole trip, tried a street drink I'd never seen before, and then finally hit the lagoon. That part kind of broke my brain a little.
If you've never heard of Bacalar, that's kind of the point. Go before everyone else figures it out.
